On Saturday, February 29, the IV Forum of Marine Technologies dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory was held at the Center for Marine Research and Technology of Sevastopol State University. The event has traditionally been aimed at popularizing knowledge about the sea and professional orientation in this area among youth. The forum program included master classes, open lectures and career guidance exhibitions. The guests were presented 16 interactive sites.
One of the central places of the exhibition hall was occupied by the exposition site of Marine Hydrophysical Institute. Sevastopol schoolchildren and students examined with interest unique instruments for marine research developed by scientists from the departments of Marine Optics and Biophysics, Turbulence and Innovative technologies, got acquainted with the history of the institute, received information about basic departments for undergraduates and about the possibility of entering the graduate school of Marine Hydrophysical Institute. Young MHI specialists presented to the forum guests “Sigma-1” sounding system for measuring turbulence, the universal stand-alone storage device for sounding oceanological equipment — “Lakuna” module, a fluorescence and light scattering meter, as well as developments designed for remote study of the ocean. The meteorological station deployed by junior research associate of Marine Hydrophysical Institute Alexander Bezgin on the beach in front of the exhibition center attracted special attention of young generation. Forum participants could observe how, using a satellite-based communication system, real-time data on the wind speed and direction, atmospheric pressure and air temperature are transmitted to the exhibition screen.
