From September 30 to October 5, 2019, the Third International School of Young Scientists and Specialists in the field of “Operational Models and the Data Assimilation Methods for the Systems of Continuous Analysis and the World Ocean State Forecast” was held at Marine Hydrophysical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Sevastopol.
The program of the School included lectures by leading experts from the UK, Germany, Israel, Cyprus, Russia and France, as well as practical classes.
The school was held in order to attract young scientists to active participation in fundamental scientific research, the formation of a qualified scientific community in Russia capable of performing research in the field of the marine environment variation forecasting at the global level.
This year more than 20 young specialists passed the competitive selection. The students of oceanological universities, graduate students, employees of research institutes of Russia (up to and including 35 years old) who are interested in issues of numerical modeling of processes in the ocean and atmosphere, as well as data assimilation, were the listeners of the School.
For the third time the School was held as part of the RSF project “New Methods and Supercomputer Technologies for Analysis and Forecasting of the World Ocean and the Arctic Basin”.
