On April 10, 2019, Marine Hydrophysical Institute celebrated its 90th anniversary. The ceremonial meeting of the Scientific Council dedicated to the anniversary of the Institute was held in the conference hall of the Black Sea Hydrophysical Polygon in the village of Katsiveli, where 90 years ago on April 10, 1929, through the efforts of Academician Vasiliy Shuleikin, the first hydrophysical station in the Soviet Union was founded, which became the scientific basis for the creation of Marine Hydrophysical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR.
The history of the institute is the history of scientific discoveries and sea expeditions, forever remaining in monographs and articles. But, first of all, this is the story of people: researchers and engineers, captains of research vessels and technical specialists, designers of scientific equipment and programmers.
During the anniversary event, many legendary names were mentioned and many interesting episodes from the Institute life were recalled. The MHI employees whose fate has been inextricably linked with Marine Hydrophysical Institute for more than half a century were awarded with diplomas.
