Sergey Motyzhev, Head of the Instrument Engineering Research of MHI, and Alexander Bezgin, Leading Engineer of the Department of Innovative Technologies, took part in the International Forum “Arctic - Territory of Dialogue”, which was held in St. Petersburg on April 8 – 10. This Forum has been held since 2010 and is a key platform for discussing pressing issues of socio-economic development of the Arctic territories, developing multilevel multilateral mechanisms for joint disclosure and effective development of the powerful resource potential of the Arctic region. The main topic of the 2019 Arctic Forum was: “The Arctic. The Ocean of Opportunity. ” The business program, consisted of many sections, was based on three areas: “Coastal Territories”, “Open Ocean” and “Sustainable Development”. Among the event participants were leading scientists, politicians, business representatives from different countries who are interested not only in the reclamation, but also in the harmonious development of the Arctic.
Sergey Motyzhev’ speech to the forum participants took place in the framework of the section "Applied Scientific Research in the Arctic". His report was dedicated to the current prospective and operational hydrometeorological control of the Arctic region. Mr. Motyzhev spoke about remote monitoring technologies that are being developed at Marine Hydrophysical Institute, and about their application in the Arctic to solve the most important tasks of its exploring.
Within the framework of the 5th International Arctic Forum, Youth Day was held. More than 500 young entrepreneurs, scientists, specialists and students from 25 regions of the country took part in it. “The day began with networking. Its purpose was to introduce young forum participants from all over Russia, then we listened to several lectures from leading scientists of the Kurchatov Institute, which identified the main problems in the reclamation and development of the Arctic territories. At the business program, in the framework of panel sessions, plenary and creative meetings, they discussed the problems of the Arctic region development, the creation of innovative and technological projects, the possibilities of self-realization and youth employment in the Arctic, as well as the problems of ecology and safety of the Far North, ”says the event participant Alexander Bezgin.
