On December 25, the Marine Hydrophysical Institute Museum hosted the opening of the unique exhibition "Formula of Photography". The exhibition presents the work of Stanislav Kuleshov, one of the main keepers of the MHI history, a talented design engineer, who passed away in September 2017. His name is associated with the development of the Special Design and Technology Bureau (SDTB), a scientific and computational center and the MHI museum.
Stanislav was fond of photography throughout his life. In his huge archive there are countless stories captured on film, the whole world seen by the author through his camera’s lens.
The works presented at the exhibition are only a small part of the invaluable material that is now stored in the author’s family. These are pictures of the period of the 1970s, photographs from the oceanographic expeditions of MHI in the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. In the days when it was allowed to go ashore, Stanislav certainly took a camera with him. A young specialist filmed life in distant countries, people, their mood, emotions of adolescents and children, who, showing interest in a foreign tourist, constantly fell into the frame...
"Formula of photography" is a small art project that Stanislav Kuleshov's children and his family's friends prepared in memory of him. The exhibition opened on the eve of the author’s birthday. On December 27 he would have turned 83 y.o.
Works will remain in the MHI Museum for a month.
We invite everyone to visit the exhibition and make an unforgettable journey into the space of marine research, street sketches and amazing portraits.
The Kuleshov family expresses special gratitude to the MHI staff and Anna Sadovnikova for the preparation and organization of the exhibition.
