On September 11, an away day of the 3rd All-Russian Conference "Thermophysics and Physical Hydrodynamics - 2018" was held on the basis of Marine Hydrophysical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

This year the conference dedicated to the fundamental problems of modern thermophysics and fluid and gas dynamics is held in Yalta from September 10 to 16. Its participants are leading scientists and young specialists representing scientific and industrial organizations of 18 regions of Russia, the Republic of Belarus and India. The organizers of the conference are S.S. Kutateladze Institute of Thermophysics, Lavrentyev Institute of Hydrodynamics and Marine Hydrophysical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences with the support of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Novosibirsk State University and the National Committee for Heat and Mass Transfer of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

During the away day, Marine Hydrophysical Institute hosted about 130 conference participants. After the plenary session, which was opened by the report of Gennady Korotaev, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the scientific supervisor of FSBS MHI. The work was divided into two sections: “Geophysical thermohydrodynamics and environmental protection” and “Methods and means of thermophysical and fluid and gas dynamics experiment”. Totally during the away day, 25 speakers participated, 10 of which were the MHI employees.

The Conference away day program included tours of the Institute and the surrounding area. In the lobby of the administrative building of the first floor, an exposition demonstrating the devices and achievements of the FSBSI MHI main directions was held.

According to the organizers’ opinion, holding a conference with school elements will help in solving modern problems in the field of thermophysics and fluid and gas dynamics, preparing a highly qualified scientific personnel reserve and attracting young scientists to the most relevant research.
