ASFA Database Interaction Training for Scientists


October 11, 2017 ASFA (Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries Abstracts) Database Interaction Training for scientists in the reading room of the Scientific and Technical Library of the Marine Hydrophysical Institute RAS took place.

Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries Abstracts (ASFA) is an International Cooperative Information System which comprises an abstracting and indexing service covering the world’s literature on the science, technology, management, and conservation of marine, brackish water, and freshwater resources and environments, including their socio-economic and legal aspects. (co-sponsors of ASFA from the UN are: FAO, IOC, UNDOALOS, UNEP).

ASFA bibliographic database contains over 2 million abstracts, as well as full-text documents covering the world literature since 1971.

Publication of abstracts from leading Russian magazines, as well as from collections of institute proceedings, from books and monographs in this database promotes an increase of the Russian scientists rating (access to this resource is available via through the web-page of the Scientific and Technical Library of the Marine Hydrophysical Institute RAS).

The training was delivered by the head Dr Sofia Levashova – Head of Russian ASFA-Centre (Russian Federal Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography).

After the successful completion of the training, the Scientific and Technical Library staff carrying out the abstracting of the Marine Hydrophysical Institute scientific journal Physical Oceanography were awarded the participation certificates.
