Master's degree program "Marine physics. Satellite Oceanology"

Sevastopol State University together with the Federal State Budget Scientific Institution “Marine Hydrophysical Institute of RAS" invites to study for the master's degree on the profile "Marine physics. Satellite Oceanology".

General description of the program

In accordance with the Federal State Educational Standards of Higher Education with speciality 03.04.02 «Physics» the field of the professional activity of the graduate includes the study and exploring the properties of nature at various levels of its organization from elementary particles to the Universe, fields and phenomena underlying physics, the harnessing the new methods of researching the basic laws of nature, all types of physical phenomena, processes and structures observed in nature.

The objects of the professional activities of the graduates mastered the master's degree program are:

  • the physical systems of various scales and levels of organization, processes of their functioning;
  • physical, physical engineering, biophysical, chemical-physical, medico-physical, environmental technologies;
  • physical examination and monitoring.

Profile: Satellite Oceanology

The specialization in the field of satellite Oceanology additionally includes the study of the basic methods of remote sensing of ocean from space and their application for satellite monitoring and research of processes and phenomena in the ocean and the Earth's atmosphere.Students will get acquainted with the modern achievements of oceanology based on satellite measurements, gain experience in the numerical processing and analysis of data from satellite-based monitoring of water areas of the World Ocean.

Students will also gain knowledge in the basics of physical oceanography, marine optics, hydrodynamics, the chemistry of marine ecosystems, methods of statistical processing of oceanographic data.
